Poquoson Empty Stocking Fund Donation

To get the holiday giving season off to a good start, the Poquoson Lions Club made a recent donation to the Poquoson Empty Stocking Fund.  The Empty Stocking Fund accepts money and gift donations to help those in need during the Christmas holiday season.  Monetary contributions allow for the purchase items ranging from toys, clothing and shoes to bed linens, blankets and pillows.  The Poquoson Lions are proud to make a $1000 donation to this very worthy cause run by former City Councilman Frank Krieger and his wife MaDonna Kreiger.  Accepting the donation is Frank Kreiger, left, from Lion Kathy Feigh of the Poquoson Lions Club

Poquoson Lions donate iPads to Poquoson City Schools

The goals of Lions is to assist those who suffer with blindness, hearing problems and those afflicted with diabetes.  In this case the Poquoson Lions responded to the request from the Poquoson Special Education Department of the Poquoson City Schools.  Ms. Fran Post reported to our Club that two of her students were showing great improvement in their visual reading ability and learning with the use of a borrowed Apple iPad.  Owing to school budget constraints, Ms. Post asked if the Lions might be able to help.  The Poquoson Lions quickly responded and presented the first of two iPads for special education students of Poquoson City Schools.

The picture shows Lion Kathy Feigh (left) presenting the first iPad to Ms. Fran Post of the Poquoson City Schools.
